When it comes to health and wellness supplements, there can be a lot of mixed messages and an overdose of information on the internet. CBD, specifically, has been a hot topic of discussion in the past few years. If you don’t know, CBD (otherwise known as Cannabidiol) is an active ingredient derived from hemp plants.
When incorporated into your daily wellness routine, CBD is said to have a variety of benefits like pain or anxiety relief. To learn more about this, as well as breaking down the common myths about CBD, I spoke with Better Conditions Co-Founders Courteney and Lindsey Fisher.
If you’ve ever considered adding the Cannabidiol supplement into your diet, keep reading below for everything you need to know about CBD.
Benefits of CBD
CBD is a powerful ingredient that provides relief to several kinds of bodily and mental health issues. According to the Fishers, a few of the most common benefits of incorporating CBD into your wellness routine include:
- Pain Relief: CBD can help reduce chronic pain by impacting endocannabinoid receptor activity, which reduces inflammation and interacts with neurotransmitters to minimize pain.
- Reduces anxiety, stress, and depression: CBD has shown antidepressant-like effects, which are directly tied to CBD’s ability to act on the brain’s receptors for serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood and social behavior.
- Cancer side effects: CBD has been shown to help reduce symptoms related to cancer and the side effects related to cancer treatment, such as nausea, vomiting, and pain. Some CBD studies have also shown that CBD inhibited the spread of aggressive breast cancer cells – these studies are still very early on and require a lot more research but have a promising start.
- Reduce Acne and overall inflammation: CBD oil has been shown to help treat acne due to its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to reduce the production of sebum.
How Much and How Often
Once you decide if CBD may be right for you, how are you supposed to know exactly how much to take and how often you should take it? Well, the Fishers say, “First, you’ll need to find out which CBD option(s) makes the most sense for you and your lifestyle. CBD can be taken in the form of ‘edibles’ (gummies for example), oils/tinctures, topical creams or lotions, or capsules/pills. It’s really up to you to decide on an option that fits your needs in terms of what is most convenient for your lifestyle.”
The co-founders recommend talking with your doctor to get some perspective on benefits, risks, and dosage. If your doctor is unable to provide you with insight, they recommend you start off with 20 to 40 milligrams per day (see dosage recommendations in more detail HERE). If you feel you may need less or more, adjust accordingly.
If you’re not sure where to start shopping for CBD products, I highly recommend anything from Better Conditions. I’ve tried several of their products now, and I can already tell the difference it’s making in my daily life!
Common Myths About CBD
“The CBD market is growing rapidly and shows no sign of slowing down,” say the Fishers. “There are, however, still many misconceptions about CBD. With so much information out there, it can be hard to decipher what is true and what’s false.”
According to the Fishers, the biggest misconception is that CBD can get you high, which has caused many people to turn their heads away from the supplement. When in reality, it could be the solution to their problem. The legal amount of THC allowed in CBD products sold in the United States is 0.3%. However, Better Conditions products focus solely on Broad Spectrum CBD, which means their products contain 0.0% THC as well as a variety of other terpenes, cannabinoids, and other incredible compounds found in the hemp plant.
Another misconception is that all CBD is created equally, regardless of where it comes from. The fishers say that there can be major differences in the CBD brands and products out there today, and because it is not FDA-regulated, it is up to YOU to make sure you’re investing in the most premium CBD.
“This is an area that our entire family and team here at Better Conditions is incredibly proud of you. We have done our research, invested, and worked with the most transparent, quality USA hemp partners,” says Fisher. “We offer the most premium products at a fair price because we believe in what these products can do and want to reach as many people as possible. It is our mission to provide our customers with the most premium, Broad-Spectrum CBD, that is always third party tested, organic, and with only the most natural ingredients for your body.”
